Go nuts with Choconananut Smoothie

We all love the smoothness of peanut butter in our bread and in our banana. I like putting a huge stack of it on fresh banana before breakfast. A morning tradition I got with my mom and I am passing it on with my children. We are making a new twist by using our Nutribullet recipes book and putting this in good use for a good energy drink.

Ingredient Selection Tips

  • Select the firmest and freshest banana you can find. I use the cavendish banana and while others prefer the non-blemished skin, I would take the one with little black spots. Even whole organic produce does not guarantee the blemish free skin as we believe those little spots is an indicator that there are healthy life bugs around the area where the fruit was planted.
  • We recommend also soya milk especially for those who are lactose- intolerant.
  • When you choose the peanut butter, look out for the sodium and sugar content. While most butters have almost the same nutrient content, commercial brands vary along these two ingredients. As much as possible use an unsweetened brand.

Preparation Time 2 minutes
Total Time  3 minutes
 Nutrient Content
  • Bananas are your complete meal. Your huge source for potassium, Vitamin B complex and needed nutrients for growth especially for bone formation in teeth.
  • If you need calcium and with no acidity in your stomach, then soya milk is the best source for you. It also contains isoflavones which fight the bad cholesterol. this is also good for the heart.
  • Peanut butter contains Vitamin E which is an antioxidant, magnesium which is crucial during formative years, and also Vitamin B6. Studies also show that regular consumption of peanut butter can even help in reducing the risk of cancer and heart problem.
   Method
  1.  Wash the medium-sized banana. Peel it and slice it.
  2. Turn on the Nutribullet and put all the banana, soya milk and the peanut butter.
  3. Blend well according to desired smoothness.
  4. Voila you have your own goodness! Some would want to put on whipped cream on top for added creaminess.
  Storage Tips:
  •  It is best drank when freshly made.
  • I love putting it in Mason jars to maintain its freshness. But consume it more than 3days.  Or you can also put it in the ice trays and freeze it. Then, in the morning you can just put it in your drink. Or put it let it out and is best for after workout drink.
Mash-up and Mix-up
  •  Add mint. If you can’t find a fresh mint, I also suggest putting a chocolate mint bar.
  • You can also add fresh fruit but keep it to a minimum like cantaloupe or lycee.

Summer is just around the corner and what’s the best way to beat the sweltering heat? Smoothies and good lots of energy goodies. This is just one of our best Nutribullet recipes we always prepare for those autumn mornings, hot afternoon nibblings. This is the goodness without guilt!

Ingredient Selection Tips

  • For this guilt-free sweetness, you will need ground cloves (just a pinch), vanilla extract (1/4 teaspoon), cinnamon (ground or its bark; just half a teaspoon), ground ginger (1/2 teaspoon), molasses, banana, ice cubes, fresh milk and  oats.
  • There are two kinds of molasses available in the market. The blackstrap or the unsulfured molasses and the one with sulfur dioxide. This is the by-product in sugar extraction from sugarcane. The color varies depending on the quality of the raw material and the sugar level being extracted (the processing matters!). The first processing is less sweet; the second processing is called the blackstrap and it contains more nutrients. The one with lighter color has been added with sulfur dioxide to prolong its shelf-life so we do not recommend it.
  • The ground spices like ginger and cinnamon can be made at home or choose the all-natural organic shop in your locality.
  • Select the unflavored oats and let the fresh fruits’ flavor to come out more.
  • What we love about banana is it is available all year round, quite cheap and contains all the necessary nutrients.

Pineapple Coconut Wheatgrass Green Smoothie for Diabetics

This is the time of the year when we want to get the taste of the tropics. The refreshing coconut juice and pineapple will surely do the trick. But I am not ending there. Why not use one of the “raw superfood’, and a good addition to our smoothie- the wonderful wheatgrass!

Did you know that wheatgrass has been cultivated during the rise of the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilization? Yes, this is a super food since it contains the necessary minerals, vitamins, amino acid and chlorophyll. This plant which can be taken fresh or frozen expands the blood capillaries and circulation. It is also proven to reduce pressure.

For this year, we just three major ingredients and select the best and add this up to your Nutribullet recipes book!

Ingredient Selection Tips

  •  Choose the pineapple that looks fresh and plump. The crown should be green and its body is firm. I prefer the smaller fruit since it tends to be sweeter. You can also check if it is full by pulling the crown, once the leaves are easy to pull, then it is ripe.
  • Select the coconut and choose the one with the weight that feels heavy for its size. Shake it and you will have a maximum amount of juice.  Also check that coconuts have three eyes and there is ‘soft eye’ and it should be clean and with no other black colors.
  • For wheatgrass, you can now easily make a juice from Nutribullet or you can also buy if it is more convenient for you, a powdered one. This is when the fresh wheatgrass is not always available (if you want it available all year-round, then consider growing one for your own). If you take the fresh one and put it all together in your recipe, then take some pulpy fiber in your drink.
